QUALITY AND PRODUCT
Where are Lexington’s products manufactured?
Much of the production takes place in Europe with partners we have worked with since Lexington was founded 20 years ago. Some of these manufacturing partners are in Portugal and Italy. We also work with manufacturers in Turkey, India and China. The country and the manufacturer are always chosen based on the skills needed to produce the specific product. Sometimes, our choice is also based on the availability of local raw materials.
What factories do you work with?
We only work with factories that meet our sustainability requirements. All our partners sign our Supplier Agreement and thereby commit to complying with our environmental, working, quality, animal rights and social responsibility rules
Why does Lexington's products cost a little more?
Lexington develops high quality products, and we always choose the products' various components carefully. There is a connection between price, quality, working conditions and environmental adjustment. Our products are of high quality and well-manufactured, with minimal impact on the climate. This means they last longer and the overtime costs aren’t as high.
Our approach is that all the materials we work with should be of the highest quality, which results in products with long durability. This is one of the most important cornerstones of Lexington's vision, which means we maximize the use of resources we consume. We work with the best manufacturers in each product segment, and, often, we develop our own materials with them.
Do you use organic cotton?
We use organic farmed cotton in some of our products and control the type of chemicals used. We’re also constantly searching for new environmentally friendly materials to reduce our climate impact.
How do you avoid dangerous chemicals in your products?
All Lexington production partners follow our extensive list of banned chemicals as well as the European REACH Regulation. Banned chemicals may not be used in our products.To monitor this, we work with local partners who perform regular visits to our manufacturers. These are followed by visits from our own, Lexington's, purchasing department.
What restrictions and certifications do you have and follow?
All our suppliers commit to follow our Supplier Agreement. This includes our Code of Conduct, our Animal Welfare Policy, our REACH Declaration and our banned chemical list. Together, these documents govern work conditions, gender equality, environmental impact, animal rights, and chemical use. Our suppliers of down and feather are certified according to IDFL.
Globally, there are a variety of different certifications and global standards for processes and inspection. Our production partners work with different certificates and standard processes depending on product and production country. For example, OEKO-TEX®, GOTS, IDFL, ISO 9001: 2008, SEDEX (SMETA), BSCI, to name a few.
How are the animals treated?
For Lexington Company, it is important that all animals are treated well. We have an Animal Welfare Policy which specifies that the animals in our process are not exposed to discomfort or stress. The animals’ needs are met in terms of food and water. They’re also provided with sufficient space, proper facilities and the company of their kind. We never use material from endangered animals, and we do not test our scents on animals. Lexington only works with suppliers who have signed our policies and are committed to comply with them. Are your fragrances tested on animals?
No, we do not test any fragrances on animals, nor do we sell our fragrances in China.
Do you use real fur?
We use fake fur details on very few products.

Where does the down come from in your products?
All down used in Lexington's products is from slaughtered birds bred for meat production. Lexington never accepts down or feather from live-plucked or force-fed birds. Lexington Company only collaborates with suppliers who sign our Animal Welfare Policy, which states the animals live a stress-free life and that their needs are properly met.
Do you use feather from live-plucked birds?
No we do not. Lexington never accepts feathers from live-plucked birds.
How is the down certified?
All Lexington down and feather suppliers are certified according to IDFL.
Is the down clean?
All down used in our products is sterilized and clean.
What type of wool do you use?
We only use wool from animals that have been treated well, and all our suppliers of wool follow our Animal Welfare Policy. This means, for example, that our merino wool is mulesing free and, we never use hair from angora rabbits.
Where does the leather come from?
The leather we use is a byproduct from cows, buffaloes, sheep or goats that have been bred for meat production. Our handbags are tanned using vegetable tannins combined with chromium salts which require skilled craftsmanship. This method results in flexible, fuller-bodied leather that’s soft and supple.
Aside from being environmentally friendly, tannins naturally found in tree barks give our products the rich and beautiful patina that ages wonderfully with time.
What do you do to minimize the environmental impact of your transport?
One of Lexington's goals is that our shipments are as environmentally sustainable as possible. We therefore actively work to minimize air transportation. Today, we only ship by air in exceptional cases. In order to further shorten the distances, we try to use locally produced materials as much as possible in the country where the manufacturing takes place. We also work with optimization of our purchasing, not to buy more than needed, which also affects our transportation
How are those who manufacture your products treated?
An important part of Lexington's Corporate Social Responsibility work includes social responsibility and our Code of Conduct contains clear guidelines on the conditions of workers. In short, it means that all Lexington's own employees, as well as our production partners’ employees, are offered a safe workplace. Child labor and involuntary work are strictly prohibited and so is work that is a health and safety hazard. The salary should be reasonable, and employees are entitled to leave and sick leave. Equal rights and opportunities is a must regardless of age, sex, nationality, political opinion, sexual orientation, pregnancy, disability or union membership.
How do you work with diversity?
Because Lexington is an international company, it is important that our workplace is characterized by diversity. Our employees and partners are of different nationalities, and work in various parts of the world, which, of course, plays a crucial role in Lexington's global success. Within the company, we also strive for an even sex, gender and age distribution.

Sustainability is the core of our company and has been since our start in 1997. Lexington's products are characterized by high quality that make them last long.

This means that we believe and work for equality while minimizing our climate footprint.
