The fact that Lexington Company is heavily inspired by the New England style is nothing new to those familiar with our brand. But did you know that it all started with Kristina’s love for shirts? Keep reading to learn more about Kristina’s inspiration and journey, in her own words.
“The first line of products I created was bed linens. I couldn’t find sheets in the material I wanted to own myself — sheets that felt newly laundered every night, and that only got better with time. I also wanted the bedding to feel light and fresh. The idea was to draw inspiration from a freshly laundered men’s shirt. Do you know the difference between a high-quality shirt and a poor one? It’s the same as the difference between good and bad bed linens.
Things were very hard at the beginning and knowing what I wanted to do wasn’t enough. I had to find someone who could make what I wanted. There’s a big difference between companies that make textiles for the fashion industry and those that do so for interior decorating, so the manufacturers were very skeptical about weaving shirting fabrics for use in bedding. It took a lot of persuasion and travels to accomplish this, but I finally found some courageous suppliers who dared to believe in a young, energetic and slightly crazy entrepreneur. They are still our partners today, and I count several of them among my personal friends”
