This time we're talking to Mia Brunell Livfors. This entrepreneur has solid experience as a company manager and CFO. Today, she is the President and CEO of Axel Johnson, which includes companies such as Axfood, Åhléns and Kicks. Before stepping down as CEO of Axel Johnson, she worked for many years as CEO of Kinnevik. In 2016, Brunell Livfors was listed as Sweden's most powerful woman in business. Recognized for, among other things, boosting one of Sweden’s largest’s companies’ sales to record heights, she was awarded Leader of the Year Award in 2020 by Affärsvärlden, a Swedish business publication.
How did you get to where you are today?
I never planned my career, but I have taken jobs with businesses that I have found interesting to work with, and just as important, people I have enjoyed working with.
How important do you find support at the early stage of entrepreneurship to be?
Critical. It is not always the best ideas that win, since all aspects of how you “go to market” are important as well
What is your best advice for a successful career?
Choose jobs and people to work with that you enjoy. That is the best way to perform well and get the opportunity to move on. And make sure you have a good manager.
What is the most important lesson you have learned during your career?
Be open-minded and curious. You will learn more, develop, dare to challenge yourself and try new things.
